My Golf Tournament Thiruvananthapuram 2010 Open

I had gone to Thiruvananthapuram for a golf tournament - the South Zone Junior Golf. Visit their website: http://www.szjuniorgolf.in/ . This is the first time I am playing a tournament out of Bangalore. We went by bus to Thiruvananthapuram. It was a 14 hour journey. For my other tournament blogs click here or here.
Day 1 (When we reached Thiruvananthapuram) (Friday, 17th December 2010):
We got out of the bus and took all our luggage. Then we looked for an auto-rickshaw. We found an auto-rickshaw. Then we came and checked in to the tennis club of Thiruvananthapuram. Then my father and I got ready to eat our breakfast. Then we went to have our breakfast. For breakfast we had omelette, bread and coffee. Then we went back to our room and got my golf bag and headed towards the golf club. We went by auto-rickshaw to the golf club. Over there we first met the captain of the club. Then we registered for the tournament. Then I played 9 holes with one of my friends who had come from Bangalore. It was very hot and humid in Thiruvananthapuram. So it was very tiring to play. It was more difficult than the golf clubs in Bangalore. Then I rested for a while and then we took an auto-rickshaw back to the tennis club. Here are a few pictures.

After that we came back to our room. My father slept but I typed my blog. I typed so much that now I have finished typing till what had done till 2:54 p.m!

At 3:30 p.m we left back to the golf club. We had to go there because we had to listen to all the rules of that particular golf course. The manager of South Zone (SZ) told us all the rules and asked us if we had any questions. After that we came back to our room. I ate apple while my father went to get some food for our dinner. That time I wrote everything of what I did from 2:54 p.m to 7:00 p.m.

After that I watched TV for a short while. On TV I watched golf and a cartoon called Phineas and Ferb. After that my father came back. He had brought pizzas from Dominos! So I ate pizza then had bath and then slept.

Day 2 (The Tournament Round 1) Saturday, 18 December 2010

I woke up at 5:30 a.m. I brushed my teeth and then had bread and jam for breakfast. After that I had my bath. Then I started to add more stuff for my blog. I have now finished typing about all that I did till 18-12-2010, 06:28:15 a.m. At 7:00 a.m we left for the golf course. We reached there are 7:10. We practised for a while. Then at 7:30 we took our first shot (teed off). My game was good. After 21/2 hours we finished our game (nine holes). Then we just verified our scores and then submitted our scores. Then I sat down in the club-house for soemtime. Then we came back to our room. Then I typed all what I had done till 10:12 a.m. After that we were free till 12:30 p.m. So we went to a cyber cafe to do some work. Here is a picture of me in the cyber cafe:

After that we went back to the golf club to have lunch. I ate ghee rice and papad. After that I played on a swing in the park (golf course). Then it was time to go back. Then I came back to the room. At 3:30 p.m went to the zoo. There were many animals and it was a long walk. I liked it since I could take many photos. After a while when we were resting there was a small hill like thing that was tough to climb. I climbed it. Here are a few pictures of the zoo:

After the zoo we went to Dominos Pizza. I ate a pizza called farmhouse and I drank coco-cola. Then we came back to our room and then I slept.

Day 3 (Tournament Round 2, winners and back to Bangalore) Sunday, 19 December 2010

I woke up at 5:00 a.m. My tee-off time was at 7:30 a.m. I woke up brushed my teeth and had my bath. I ate half a banana and then had half a guava. Since I had not blogged yesterday (Day 2) I blogged about it also.

At 6:40 we left to the golf club. We reached there at 6:50 a.m. Then I practised a little and had my breakfast over there. For breakfast I had idli and sambhar. At 7:30 a.m we teed-off. My game was good. I took 52 shots (They are known as strokes).
After that I rested for little time then we checked out of our hotel. We left the bags in the tennis club and then went to a shop to buy banana chips. After that we went to the cycber cafe. Over there I typed my blog. At 1:45 we left back to the golf club to receive our prizes.
At 7.00pm we took the bus back to Bangalore.

  4. Dear lil mairpady, some people forget about who ate banana chips all by themselves. We can remind them by not taking any kind of chips ever again for them. What say?

Visiting the Kasturinagar (KA-03) RTO - a tumultuous but manageable experience to get a Learner's/ Driver's License without an agent/ driving school

Ask anyone, and I can guarantee that they will have a story (and in most cases, many stories) about their trip, or rather, numerous trips to the RTO for something as simple as getting a Learner's License (LL) or a Driver's License (DL). In this blog, I hope to make your life a tad bit easier by guiding you through the entire process, which may seem easy at first but is full of (overcome able) challenges if you know what you are doing. I turned 18 in January this year, and besides cutting a cake, I worked on my LL application online. I challenged myself to complete the entire LL to DL process by myself and without the help of an agent or a driving school, unlike what the majority do. The lengthy application process and multiple visits to the RTO, impressed upon me why most people decided to pay a little extra to get an agent to do it for them. Still, I was determined not to pay a single rupee more than the official cost. I succeeded.  Do note that this answer is concerning the K...

The Great Omani Coastal Route

Route 15 : Muscat-Nizwa The parents, seemingly forever, had been planning a trip to Oman. Why Oman? Well, that’s a question I asked myself too. My dad, in the 90s, spent close to a decade in the UAE but barring a work trip, had never visited Oman. Fast forward to the 21 st   century, countless Oman Air flights from India to Europe later, he found himself stranded in Muscat. A ‘technical difficulty’ they said. He visited the Sultan Qaboos Mosque but didn’t get to see much more – it was only a 24-hour layover. However, the constant propaganda he was subjected to via the in-flight entertainment, and the cabin crew he made conversation with, convinced him that the country has a lot to offer. A friend from the UAE, who spoke highly of Oman, apparently also played a role.     The parents had their mind set on Oman. The stars aligned and clubbing together a bunch of bank holidays in India, they decided on visiting in April. Unfortunately, or fortunately (the jury is still out), ...

My New Mike

I have a mike. I play with it. I got it for my birthday. Mikes are used in programmes usually. So I thought it will be fun to play with it. So I bought one. This is how my mike set looks. If you can see in the picture there is an amplifier. I had another amplfier, but that one sadly got burnt. So I thought I could never be able to use a mike again. But then my father told me that we could also use a music system's amplifier. So then I was very happy. We had a music system that did not work. But its amplifier was still working. So I gave the amplifier to an electric shop. The shop owner fixed a few parts and it is working now.

My New Toy

My friend gave me a new toy. It is a cat that looks like it can flap its wings. It has a solar-panel attached to it. The solar panel converts the solar energy into electricity. Using this method it looks like it can flap its wing. Here is a small video how it is flapping its wings. If you can hear there is a noise that it makes. The sound sounds like a clock. If you keep it in the sun for 5 minutes it can make its wings fly only for 2 minutes! I am going to try to keep it for more than an hour and see how much time it can survive without the sunlight.

'Digital India' - A Good Scheme or a Scam?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a popular scheme known as Digital India on 1st July, 2015, a year into his term. It was started with the intention to improve digital infrastructure, deliver government services and universal digital literacy. Mr. Modi envisioned that in the near future almost everybody in India would possess a smart phone and could use it to seek redress. His thoughts were not wrong. Almost everyone possesses a minimum of one smart phone with an Internet Connection (thank you Jio!). As usual, when the scheme was launched, everyone praised it. BJP Bhakts believed that Modi was transforming India and bringing it at par with technologically and administratively advanced countries like Singapore. However, almost three years later how is this program faring? Source While on the face of it, a common man may think that Digital India is a success, and they are not wrong. However, as most Government projects are, this one too is only superficially successf...

Notes on Gautam Bhatia's Article on the Relationship Between Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State policy

A few months ago in school, we learnt about the relationship between Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles of State Policy. The prescribed ISC textbook did not provide an adequate explanation. However, my teacher was kind enough to share an article penned by Gautam Bhatia, an eminent Constitutional lawyer, and author who is most famously known for his book, 'The Transformative Constitution'. Below, I have written a summary/ my notes of the article penned by him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The constitution was not drafted with an intention for Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles to be related. There was a clear division between the two; Fundamental Rights were enforceable, and remedies existed to ensure the protection of those Rights. On the contrary, Directive Principles were un-enforceable and more ‘guiding’ in nature. The DPSPs were only politically relevant b...

The concept of privilege and how I was blind to it

This is an essay that  I  wrote as part of my Ashoka University application process. The reason for uploading it is that the concept of privilege that I write about, has impacted me and moulded my political ideology. Do give it a read, it may make you reconsider your opinions too! Write about an experience from your past, which has significantly shaped you as a person and your perspective(s) on life. Elaborate upon the experience, your personal engagement with it, and the manner in which it has changed you. Provide other relevant details to help us better understand you.   (Maximum Word Limit - 450 words)   *   I am born into a family of privilege, and until I undertook courses on sociology and political science, I was blind to it. I reaped the benefits of being privileged – I am a Hindu, male whose family could afford my education and three square meals a day. I have been extensively educated in good private schools, and the opportunity to avail outs...
